How to play Carcassonne: rules and scoring

  • 2–6 players
  • 7 meeples each
  • Record every scoring

Goal: Lay tiles, place meeples on roads, cities, monasteries and fields, and score the most points.

Setup

  • The start tile goes in the middle.
  • Everyone has 7 meeples.

How to play

  1. Draw a tile and place it so it fits.
  2. You may put one of your meeples on it.
  3. Finished roads, cities and monasteries score straight away.
  4. Meeples on a scored feature go back to their owners.

Scoring

Road (per tile)1
City (per tile and coat of arms)2
Monastery9
End: road and city (per tile and coat of arms)1
End: monastery (itself and around)1 each
Field (per finished city)3

Winning

  • When the tiles run out, do the end-of-game scoring.
  • End the game from the menu; the most points wins.

Note

If several players tie for the most meeples on a feature, they all score in full: pick them together in the app.
