How to play Cribbage: rules and scoring

• 2–4 players
• To 121
• The crib is the dealer’s

Goal: Be first to peg your way to 121 (or 61) on the board.

Setup

• 6 cards each with 2 players, 5 each with 3 or 4.
• Two cards each go to the dealer’s crib (one each with 3 or 4, plus one from the deck with 3).

How to play

1. A jack turned up as the starter gives the dealer 2 (his heels).
2. Play cards in turn; the count never passes 31.
3. Pegging: 15 or 31 is 2, a pair 2, a run 1 per card; a go and the last card are 1.
4. Then hands and the crib are counted; nobs (the jack of the starter card’s suit in hand) is 1.
